EUSA Supervision Commission visits Rotterdam

The EUSA Supervision Commission for the 2014 European Universities Games visited Rotterdam, the Netherlands from October 13-16, 2013. The aim of the visit was the supervision of the preparation for organisation of the Games which will be held next year in Rotterdam, which boasts with the title of being the largest port in Europe.

 

EUSA Supervision Commission Chair Mr Kemal Tamer and Members Mr Arie Rosenzweig, Mr Matjaz Pecovnik and Mr Patrik Perosa held several meetings with the representatives of the Organising Committee.

The meetings were held at the EUG2014 Headquarters at the Erasmus University. The Tournament Director Mr Henk Smit, together with rest of the responsible managers in different areas presented the Progress Report on organisation of the event. The participants also discussed the activity plan for the near future, which encompasses among others organisation of the EUSA Convention in Rotterdam in November, EUSA Executive Committee Meeting in January 2014 and the next supervision meetings, as well as general promotion and other organisational matters.

EUSA representatives also inspected the catering and accommodation facilities and the venues for the opening and closing ceremony, accreditation and registration offices, as well as the offices of the organising committee. 


Dining and catering facilities

 

As the largest European university multisport event, the 2nd European Universities Games will feature 10 sports: badminton, basketball, football, futsal, handball, rowing, rugby 7's, table tennis, tennis and volleyball, attracting about 3000 participants from all over the continent, combining sport with culture and education. The sports schedule and other details will be confirmed at the Convention coming up in November, with the registration starting in the beginning of December this year.

The Supervision Committee will present its findings and recommendations to the EUSA Executive Committee, which meets in Yerevan on October 24-25, 2013.

On the occasion of the visit, Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, EUSA Secretary General thanked again Mr Jack Jacobs, EUC Basketball 3x3 Organising Committee Chair for the successful organisation of the 1st edition of the championships held this August in Rotterdam.
