EUSA signs partnership agreements with ECU and IDO

European University Sports Association (EUSA) recognising the importance of strong partnerships in order to develop and promote university sport in Europe and we are happy to announce that two new partnerships have been officiated at the occasion of the EUSA Convention and Conference in Zagreb, on March 28, 2015.

Memorandums of understanding and cooperation have first been signed with the representatives of the European Chess Union (ECU), represented by Mr Theodoros Tsorbatzoglou, Secretary General and Mr Adrian Michalchisin, Board member.

Chess has already been placed on the EUSA sports competition programme, and together with ECU the promotion of the event, as well as strengthening partnerships on national levels within EUSA member federations will be encouraged.
The first European Universities Chess Championship will be held in Yerevan, Armenia, between October 6 and 11, 2015. Interested participants should contact the national university sports bodies for registration.

Cooperation with the International Dance Organisation (IDO) has also been finalised and formalised in Zagreb, with the signing of memorandum of understanding and cooperation. On behalf of EUSA, the agreement was signed by Mr Adam Roczek, President and Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, Secretary General and on behalf of IDO Mr Michael Wendt, President and Mrs Fiona Johnson Kocjancic, Sport and Competition Director.

As a result, several IDO-EUSA joint events will be organised already this year, featuring competitions in three disciplines: Hip Hop, Tap Dance, and Jazz and Modern Dance. European universities dance events will form part of the official IDO competitions which attract up to 3.000 participants in an event. National university sports bodies are encouraged to contact the national dancing organisations in their own countries, to explore cooperation possibilities.

The 1st EUSA & IDO European Universities Hip Hop Championship will be held in Rimini, Italy, between October 21 and 25, 2015, followed by the 1st EUSA & IDO European Universities Tap Dance Championship in Riesa, Germany, between December 1 and 5, and the 1st EUSA & IDO European Universities Jazz and Modern Dance Championship in Mikolajki, Poland, between December 8 and 13, 2015.
