EUSA representatives in Israel

On the invitation of Mr Arie Rosenzweig, the President of the Academic Sport Association of Israel (ASA), Mr Alberto Gualtieri, EUSA President and Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, EUSA Secretary General visited Israel from March 4-8, 2010.

ASA is one of the founding member federations of EUSA and is very active on the field of organisation of university sport events. The most known international event that ASA organises are the Friendship Games. The games are organised under the patronage of EUSA and will this year be held from June 4-11 in the City of Eilat.

The EUSA representatives visited the University of Tel Aviv and discussed with ASA the possibilities to increase also the participation of university teams from Israel in the European Universities Championships. Mr Rosenzwieg announced that ASA Board decided to financially support from this year onwards the participation of the students and university teams in the championships.

 

Folk festival


EUSA representatives and the hosts attended the Folk Festival at the University Sports Centre and also visited Jerusalem, Nazareth and Eilat, the host city of the next EUSA General Assembly. They visited the facilities to be used for the event and agreed on the program of the assembly that will be held from March 4-6, 2011.

At the end of their stay in Israel, Mr Gualtieri and Mr Pecovnik together with Mr Eric Saintrond, FISU Secretary General, participated in the Opening Ceremony of the ASA Games and the Leadership Conference, held March 7-10, 2010 in Eilat.
