Camilo Jose Cela University, member of the SEK Education Group, hosted an event on November 8 in Madrid, Spain, highlighting the importance of supporting dual career, promoting education and sport, and celebrating achieves of its best young athletes. EUSA representatives also took part in the event.

The event also introduced the start of new courses of the SEK International Sports Academy, specialized programs for high sports performance athletes and addressed the topic of dual career.



Moderated by the Sports Director of the SEK educational institution, Mr Aitor Canibe Sanchez, the event was opened by the President of SEK Ms Nieves Segovia. In her opening address she thanked all involved in providing quality education to young athletes and recognising the success of the latter.



Before the full audience which included representatives of partners, media and students, Mr Canibe presented the main objective of the initiative, to ensure young people academic, sports and personal development.



Secretary General of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) Mr Matjaz Pecovnik together with the Communications and Projects Manager Mr Andrej Pisl attended the event as well. Mr Pecovnik addressed the audience, briefly highlighting the aims and activities of the European university sports governing body, and focused on importance of dual career. He highlighted the good practice model of cooperation between SEK, University and EUSA, both in terms of general cooperation, participation and event hosting. Mr Pecovnik also congratulated the students for their academic and sports achievements, especially the medal winners at the 2017 European Universities Tennis and Golf Championships from the Camilo Jose Cela University.



EUSA with its Institute is an active advocate of dual career, and will start two new EU-funded projects on the topic in 2018.
