EUSA President visits Serbia
EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek was present in Serbia from 10-13 December, taking part in several activities in Belgrade and Novi Sad while noting the steady progress made in preparation for next year’s European Universities Games.
Upon the invitation of the University of Belgrade’s Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, Mr Roczek attended a solemn session held on the occasion of the faculty’s 81st anniversary, following which he delivered a keynote speaker address at a conference under the topic “Trends and Changes in University Sport”.
The following day Mr Rozcek met with EUG2020 Director Mr Predrag Juskovic and Deputy Director Ms Anita Dobre, which was followed by a meeting with the respective heads of operational areas of the Games where a presentation of the progress made so far was made.
It was pleasing to note that on this very day, the 1000th volunteer application for next year’s Games as received by the EUG2020 office.
Mr Roczek noted the steady progress made in preparations for next year’s big event, which has been declared a project of national importance by the Prime Minister of Serbia, Ms Ana Brnabic.
Mr Roczek then had the privilege of meeting Belgrade City’s deputy Mayor Mr Goran Vesic, before the following day’s working meeting with the Rector of the University of Belgrade Ms Ivanka Popovic.
The EUSA President’s final stop was in Novi Sad on the final day of his visit, where he met with the President of the USSS Mr Dejan Madic as well as Mr Dejan Jaksic, Rector of the University of Novi Sad.
