EUSA mourns the loss of Prof Dr Wolf Fruhauf
With great sadness we found out of the passing of Prof Dr Wolf Fruhauf, former president of the Austrian University Sports Organisation.
Mr Fruhauf played a key role in all major university reforms and development of the university sport, not just in Austria but in whole Europe. His aim was always to create added value for national, European and international university sports community.
In 1992, he was entrusted with the agendas of university sport, among other things, and served university sport in Austria with creative power, cleverness, objective precision and foresight until the end.
He was instrumental part of bringing international university sporting events to Austria: the 2002 World Student Squash Championships in Linz, the 1st EUSA European Universities Championship in Beach Volleyball in Klagenfurt and the biggest event, the Winter Universiade in Innsbruck-Seefeld in 2005.
He was also one of the founding individuals, when the European University Sports Association (EUSA) was born in Vienna in 1999. As a former EUSA Executive Committee Member and later EUSA Honorary Member, he continued to stand up for university sport even after his retirement.
EUSA grieves his loss and conveys the sympathy to his family and the loved ones, as well to our friends from the Unisport Austria.
