EUSA meets EPC in Vienna for a working meeting

During the series of working meetings in Vienna, representatives of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) visited the office of the European Paralympic Committee (EPC) on November 22, 2017.

EUSA Education & Development Manager Ms Sara Rozman together with EUSA Communications & Projects Manager Mr Andrej Pisl were welcomed by the EPC Head of Office Ms Saskia Kanfer.

Sports for students with disabilities at the European Universities Games

At the meeting, activities of EPC and EUSA were presented in more details, and closer cooperation was discussed also for the future. EUSA and EPC have officially signed a memorandum of understanding in 2014, and have since then been working on inclusion of students with disabilities and impairments in university sport. In 2016, thanks to the cooperation between the organisations, para Table Tennis and Swimming were featured at the European Universities Games as an integral part of the event for the first time. Para Table Tennis will also be included in the upcoming European Universities Games Coimbra 2018; registration for which is to open in mid December.

EPC received EUSA Special Award at this year’s EUSA Gala, which was held in Coimbra, for close partnership in introducing competitions for students with disabilities as integral part of European Universities Games. EPC and EUSA are also currently partners in EU-funded project Voice, in the field of prevention of sexual violence and harassment in sport.
