EUSA meet state and local authorities in Tbilisi

On the 3rd of April, ahead of the first 2025 EUSA Executive Committee Meeting, a significant meeting took place at the Georgian National University SEU in Tbilisi, Georgia, bringing together representatives from the European University Sports Association (EUSA) and distinguished government representatives, Olympic champions, and the Rector of the higher education institution, hosted by the University Sports Federation of Georgia (USFG).

Prior to a public presentation, a first closed meeting was held between Shalva Gogoladze, Georgia Minister of Sports, and Lasha Magradze, Georgia Deputy Minister of Sports, and EUSA President, Adam Roczek and EUSA Secretary General, Matjaz Pecovnik. The encounter served to strengthen relationships further and discuss future collaborations.

The entire EUSA delegation in Tbilisi then attended a public gathering organised by the Georgian NUSA, with overviews of success and future plans of the organisation.
The welcome speech was delivered by USFG President Nino Gigineishvili, followed by the opening presentation of USFG Representative Nika Tikanashvili.

The local institutional representation saw the speeches of Giorgi Chakvetadze; First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Education, Science and Youth of the Parliament of Georgia, and of the Head of the Municipal Department of Culture, Education, Sports and Youth Affairs of Tbilisi City HallIrakli Gvilava.

Greetings by Member of the Parliament of Georgia, Olympic Champion Geno Petriashvili graced the afternoon meeting, followed by EUSA greetings and thanks for the hospitality addressed by EUSA President Adam Roczek: Mr Roczek remarked on his great impressions on Georgian efforts and plans of contributions to the European University Sports movement, thanking the formal and material support demonstrated by the governmental institutions.

A speech from SEU Acting Rector Luka Kavtelishvili concluded the gathering that saw an important attendance of both local students and volunteers, as well as main partners and VIPs.

EUSA thanks the OC for the great hospitality and the prestigious welcome received, as well as for reserving the opportunity to hold these fruitful meetings that highlight the organizers' admirable work in such a good university atmosphere.
