EUSA Medical Commission Meeting in Opatija

The Members of the Medical Commission, Mr Haris Pavletic as the Chair and Ms Abosede Ajayi together with Mr Patrik Perosa, EUSA Sports Manager met in Opatija, Croatia, following the European Universities Taekwondo Championship.

The Agenda of the meeting included several topics, starting with the evaluation of the 2015 EUSA Championships in 2015, with the special focus on doping controls which were performed during the EUC Judo and EUC Rowing this year. The attendees of the meeting decided to launch survey among EUSA members, to get more feedback about doping controls.

In the second part of the meeting, the upcoming European Universities Games 2016 in Zagreb and Rijeka were discussed and the activity plan of the Medical Commission was prepared. Members of the Medical Commission evaluated EUSA regulations, and prepared some proposals for future improvements in the field of Catering & Nutrition, Hygiene and general medical perspectives.

During the meeting, the sports for students with disabilities were discussed as well, as Swimming and Table Tennis will be organized for students with impairments during the EUSA Games next year for the first time.

The meeting concluded by setting a goal for future - to develop and raise the Health Care in the EUSA Events and among student athletes.
