EUSA Medical and Student Commission meeting in Ljubljana

European University Sports Association (EUSA) organised the meetings of its Medical and Student Commissions on March 25, 2017 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, where the EUSA Office is located. The meeting brought together two commissions, using cooperation synergies and contributing to development of university sport.

Commission members of the Students and Medical Commission arrived on Friday afternoon and were greeted by the EUSA Office team, Sports Manager Besim Aliti, Communications and Projects Manager Andrej Pisl, Sports Assistant Davor Travnikar and Projects Assistant Liam Smith.

The Saturday programme started with the early morning #beactive sightseeing hike through Ljubljana, visiting the Castle of Ljubljana and other main sights of the city.

The meeting started with a joint programme of both commissions, where EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek and Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik greeted the participants through a video address wishing them successful and productive meetings.

As this was the first live meeting of the Commissions after the appointment last year, the joint programme continued with an introductory session and general presentation of EUSA, its structure, activities and events.

Introductions

The Commissions continued their work in two groups. Student Commission was one of the first commissions in EUSA, representing student voice and promoting youth inclusion. The agenda of the meeting focused on projects and initiatives, with EUSA Volunteer Program, STC Networking, Media and Communications activities including Photo Competition and Monthly What’s Up Column, as well as discussing other projects and initiatives.

The Medical Commission discussed their planned activities, including Health Care Regulations, Sport Venues, Hospital and ambulance services, Nutrition and Catering, Disability sport, Anti-doping, Education and Research, and other health-related topics.

Student Commission is chaired by Ms Anna Edes from Hungary, with members Katarzyna Czalej (POL), Seit Demiri (SLO), Daniel Monteiro (POR), Kevin Ronan (IRL), Nikola Vincetic (CRO), Moritz Belmann (GER) and Esli de Kok (NED), assisted by EUSA Communications and Projects Manager Mr Andrej Pisl as the Secretary of the Commission.

Medical Commission is chaired by Ms Abosede Ajayi from United Kingdom, with members Peter Hidas (HUN), Ulrike Kallenberg (GER), Damir Raljevic (CRO) and Claudia Ilie (ROU), assisted by EUSA Sports Manager Mr Besim Aliti as the Secretary of the Commission.

The work of expert Commissions in EUSA is done on a volunteering principle, represents a very valuable input for the work of the organisation and gives recommendations to the Executive Committee which steers the organisation during their mandate, following principles of good governance.
