EUSA Games: Volleyball finals

On Friday, July 20, we witnessed the volleyball finals of the 1st European Universities Games in Cordoba, Spain. The final matches were played at the Vista Alegre sports hall in Cordoba, in front of numerous spectators, both participants of the EUSA Games and their fans, as well as the local citizens. The awarding ceremony was done right after the men's finals, awards presented by Mr Leonz Eder, Vice-President of the European University Sports Association, and Mr Manuel Torres, the President of the Organising Committeee.

Spectators

In women’s category, the Chemnitz University of Technology (GER) won the bronze, while in the finals the teams from Bahcesehir University from Turkey and University of Belgrade from Serbia measured their strengths. The Turkish ladies showed a compact game, winning the title of the women’s champions in volleyball at the EUSA Games 2012.


Women's gold medallists

In men’s competition, the students of the Bashkrisky State Agrarian University from Russia won the match for the third place and in the finals the Serbian athletes from the University of Nis did somewhat better than their fellow female colleagues – they got the gold medal, winning against the University of Warsaw from Poland.

Today the team’s table tennis competitions also started in Encinarejo; while rugby 7s starts tomorrow – at the same day the handball and tennis have the finals.

The representatives of the European University Sports Association also met with the organisers of the 2nd European Universities Games Rotterdam 2014, discussing the current Games and the plans for the next ones.
