EUSA Games: Sun and the Beach

EUSA Games: Sun and the Beach

If Cordoba had a sea and the beach, today it would be perfect to go there. Since there is no sea here, the day was perfect to go and get our feet into the sand – at the finals of the beach volleyball competitions at the 1st European Universities Games.

The spectators witnessed interesting and exciting semifinal and final matches in both women’s and men’s competitions. In ladies competition, students of Polish universities won two sets of medals – bronze by the The Jerzy Kukuczka Academy of Physical Education in Katowice and silver by the Warsaw University of Technology, while the gold went to the University of Economics, Prague (CZE).

Women's finals

In men’s competition, the students from the University of Malaga (ESP) won bronze, and in a tough final match the University of Alicante (ESP) won against the University of Lodz (POL). The awards were presented by the Rector of the University of Cordoba Mr Jose Manuel Roldan, the President of the Organising Committee Mr Manuel Torres and EUSA representative Mr Wolf Fruhauf.

Men's finals

Besides the beach volleyball finals, which concluded second sport at the 1st European Universities Games, there are ongoing matches in basketball, football, futsal; handball having a day off. Since participants indeed can enjoy the swimming pools, hopefully the title of this news can apply to those resting and relaxing after the matches as well.
