EUSA Games ready for participants

EUSA Games ready for participants
Cordoba is already awaiting participants of the 1st European Universities Games. While the EUSA Staff has already arrived and set up their office in the main campus of the University of Cordoba, the first participants will arrive on Monday. During the event, local Spanish numbers will be distributed to EUSA representatives for easier communications; you can find the Staff contacts published online.

Over 2700 participants are expected to take part in the events, coming from over 250 universities from all over Europe. They will compete in 10 sports, making the event one of the largest sports events this year in Europe.

The participants will be welcomed at the airport by the volunteers dressed in distinctive colours, equipped also by umbrellas – although the use of them will mostly be used as protection from the sun as the weather forecast during the Games is sunny and hot.

The EUSA Games will officially start on Saturday, July 14 with the Opening Ceremony at the Fontanar Stadium in Cordoba, and will last until the Closing Ceremony, organized in La Axerquia Theatre on Monday, July 23rd in the late evening.

The Organising committee is especially proud of the supporters of the event; apart from the home university, city, regional and national authorities and sponsors and partners the support from recognised athletes is also important. Pepe Reina, one of the members of the national Spanish Football Team, winner of EURO2012 UEFA Championship, visited the organisers a few days ago in support of the Games.
