EUSA Games: Last sports finish
Monday, July 23 is the last day of the 1st European Universities Games, organised in Cordoba, Spain. The Games officially started with the opening ceremony on July 14, and today we witnessed the finals in basketball, rugby 7s and individual competitions in table tennis.
The basketball finals took place at the Vista Alegre Sports Hall in the centre of Cordoba. In women’s competition, the Lithuanian Academy of Physical Education (LTU) finished with a bronze medal, and the final match between University of Belgrade (SRB) and Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan (POL). Only one point decided about the winner – the team from Poznan became female basketball champion of the Games.
In men’s competition, the Poznan University of Technology (POL) won the bronze medal and the final match between the teams from University of Split (CRO) and the Vytautas Magnus University (LTU) decided about the winner of the competition. The Lithuanian team from Kaunas showed a supreme game, winning the gold medal. Table tennis finished today with the individual events and the town of Encinarejo again showed their hospitality to the participants. The awarding ceremony took part today for all table tennis events, after the finish of the individual competitions. Awards were presented by Mr Adam Roczek, the President of EUSA, Mr Ruiz Madruga, the Mayor of Encinarejo and Mr Manuel Torres, the President of the Organising Committee.

Men's doubles – T. Merzlikin & A. Baybuldin, Russian State University for the Humanities (RUS)
Women's doubles – N. Voronova & V. Lebedeva, Kazan Volga Federal University (RUS)
Men's singles – L. Wehking, WG Koln (GER)
Women's singles – E. Rylskaya, Russian State University for the Humanities (RUS)
Teams competing in Rugby 7’s had their final matches this evening in Rabanales, concluding the final sport of the Games. In women’s competition, the University of Barcelona (ESP) finished third, followed by the University of Coimbra (POR) on the second and University of Paris 13 Bobigny (FRA) on the first place.
In men’s competition, the University of Porto (POR) won the bronze medal, University of the Basque Country (ESP) second, and the University of Pau and Pays de l'Adour (FRA) gold medal. The medals and awards were presented by the President of the Organising Committee Mr Manuel Torres and the Honorary EUSA President Mr Alberto Gualtieri.
The Games will officially close in the evening with the Closing ceremony, and tomorrow after the final press conference we will share the overview of the Games.
