EUSA Games: Handball and Tennis champions

The last weekend of the 1st European Universities Games in Cordoba was marked by the finals in tennis, handball and team table tennis competitions and the start of the last sporting competition of the Games – Rugby 7’s.

 

Final female tennis matches, held at the Santuario tennis club, brought new medallists. First, the Polish students celebrated, with Kozminski University and University School of Physical Education in Wroclaw both winning bronze medals. In the final match, the ladies from Moscow State University of Economics Statistics and informatics (RUS) showed supremacy over the PRES Clermont-University from France, winning the title of the female tennis champions of the 1st EUSA Games.

Tennis - best men's teams

 

Their male colleagues played their final matches at the tennis courts of the Aeroclub. After the matches, the students from Moscow State University of Economics Statistics and informatics (RUS) and University of Stirling (GBR) shared the third place. Finals were held between the two French teams from the University of Rouen and University of Poitiers; Rouen winning the gold medal.

Women's handball gold medallists

 

In handball, the finals were played at the Vista Alegre sports hall in the Center of Cordoba. In women’s competition, the ladies from the Akdeniz University (TUR) won the bronze medal and the gold went to the University of Vincent Pol (POL), winning the Lithuanian Academy of Physical Education (LTU).

Men's handball golden medallists

 

Men’s champions in handball became the team of Georgian Technical University (GEO), winning against the University J.J.Strossmayera Osijek (CRO), and the third place went to the University of Minho (POR). The medals were presented by the President of EUSA Mr Adam Roczek, EUSA Executive Committee Member Mr Arie Rosenzweig and the Rector of the University of Cordoba Mr Jose Manuel Roldan.

Table Tennis sports venue

 

In table tennis, held in the Encinarejo sports hall, the team competition finished. Ladies’ team of Russian State University for the Humanities (RUS) won the gold, silver went to Kazan Volga Federal University (RUS) and bronze was shared by the WG Mainz (GER) and the University of Warsaw (POL). In men’s category, the winners became the Rzeszow University of Technology (POL), second was the Russian State University for the Humanities (RUS) and third place shared between the University of Ljubljana (SLO) and Jozef Rusiecki Olsztyn University (POL).
