EUSA Executive Committee meets in Turkey
Denizli, Turkey is the location of series of EUSA events between April 3 and 6, 2014. One of the first events was the Executive Committee Meeting of the European University Sports Association (EUSA), held on April 3.
On behalf of the hosts, the Executive Committee members were welcomed by Mr Kemal Tamer, the President of the Turkish University Sports Federation (TUSF). Mr Adam Roczek, EUSA President thanked Mr Tamer and TUSF for the invitation and the hospitality, and opened the meeting.
First point on the agenda was setting the order of the presentations of the European Universities Games 2018. Mrs Ivana Ertlova, the Chair of the Technical Committee made the draw, Coimbra being selected the first to present their candidature on Saturday, followed by Tampere.
After the draw, the meeting continued with the Office report, presented by Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, EUSA Secretary General. Report on the upcoming European Universities Games 2014 Rotterdam followed, presented by Mr Henk Smit, Tournament Director. The EC members also got acquainted by the progress report about the European Universities Games 2016 Zagreb-Rijeka.
The upcoming EUSA Conference and General Assembly were discussed as well, and the cooperation with the international organisations. EUSA Executive Committee also appointed the Technical Delegate for Chess – Mr Oleksandr Sulypa from Ukraine and confirmed the allocation of funds for the EUSA Development fund.
Before the Executive Committee Meeting, Mr Adam Roczek, EUSA President, Mr Oleg Matytsin, EUSA Vice-President and FISU First Vice President and Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, Secretary General held several meetings with the local authorities in Denizli, with interest also from the regional media.
Accompanied by TUSF President Mr Kemal Tamer and Mr Suleyman Kocasert, TUSF Board Member and President of the Chamber of Commerce of Denizli, EUSA representatives met firstly with the Governor of Denizli Province Mr Abdulkadir Demir.
Afterwards, the EUSA delegation was received by the Mayor of Denizli, Mr Osman Zolan.
On the invitation of Mr Kocasert, EUSA representatives also visited the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce of the Denizli Province.
The EUSA events will continue with the EUSA Conference on Friday, April 4 and the EUSA General Assembly on April 5, concluding with a special Gala where awards will be given for the past accomplishments, and host of the European Universities Games 2018 announced.
