EUSA Executive Committee Meeting in Hannover

Members of the Executive Committee of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) met on its second meeting this year on May 29 and 30, 2015 in Hannover, Germany – the host city of the European Universities Rowing Championship 2015. As reported, EUSA was very warmly received not only by the hosts of the Rowing Championship, but also by the highest representatives of the German University Sports Federation (ADH), Leibniz University Hannover and the City of Hannover.

The 2-day Executive Committee meeting took place in the New City Hall. The meeting started with the welcome of the hosts, the city and introductions of the local universities and ADH. The overview of EUSA activities was done by EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek and Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, followed by financial report by the Treasurer Mr Olaf Tabor. Participants discussed EUSA Conferences and Meetings, reflecting on the 2015 EUSA Conference and Convention and looking into the future events.

Presentations by the local hosts

Chair of the Technical Commission Mrs Ivana Ertlova and the EUSA Sports Manager Mr Patrik Perosa presented the report on the European Universities Championships 2015 and 2017 and together with the Chair of the Supervision Commission Mr Kemal Tamer also the report on the European Universities Games 2016 and 2018. EUSA EC also approved the regulations for EUSA endorsed events and confirmed the bidding procedure for the 2020 European Universities Games.

Chairs and/or secretaries of respective commissions also presented their reports and updates, including the Student Commission, Media and Communications Commission, Finances and Marketing Commission, Medical Commission, Technical Commission and Equal Opportunities Commission.

Reporting on the activities

Report on dedicated projects, supported by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and the European Union were presented by EUSA Secretary General Mr Pecovnik and Communications and Projects Manager Mr Andrej Pisl.

Discussions and feedback an activities

At the meeting the international cooperation with FISU, other continental organisations, EU, member associations (NUSA), partner organisations and other organisations and institutions were discussed. The participants were also given the opportunity to visit the local university sports center where they were also acquainted in more details with the upcoming EUC Rowing event, and also test their sporting skills.

At the end of the meeting, EUSA Vice-President thanked ADH and the local hosts for their hospitality and presented the EUSA plaquette to the President of ADH Mr Felix Arnold.

The meeting was organised by the local hosts of the European Universities Rowing Championship, in cooperation with the German University Sports Federation (ADH), supported also by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and local partners.
