EUSA Evaluation Visit to Zagreb-Rijeka started

The EUSA Evaluation Commission for European Universities Games 2016 is visiting Zagreb and Rijeka from April 17-19, 2013.

 

During the first day of the visit, Mr Adam Roczek, EUSA President, Mr Ceslovas Garbaliauskas, EC Member and Mr Matjaz Pecovnik first met with the representatives of the Bidding Committee for presentation of the candidature highlights given by Mr Zrinko Custonja, President of Croatian Academic Sports Federation (CASF) and Mr Gordan Kozulj, Bidding Committee President.

Afterwards the EUSA representatives met also with Mr Zeljko Ivanovic, Minister for Science, Education and Sports of the Croatian Government who once again stressed the support of the ministry to the organisation of the event.

 

On Friday morning, EUSA delegation met with Mr Ivo Josipovic, President of the Republic of Croatia.

"The organisation of the European Universities Games would have the significant impact on the country and region, so the bid of Zagreb and Rijeka has my full support" stressed Mr Josipovic on the meeting, as well as to the press. Present on the meeting was also Mr Josip Cok, confirming the support of Croatian Olympic Committee as its Secretary General.

Afterwards, the EUSA representatives paid a visit to Rijeka, where they met with University of Rijeka Rector, Mr Pero Lucin, President of Rijeka Sports Federation Mr Samir Barac and Rijeka University Student Union Chair Ms Andreja Mesanovic.

During their stay in Rijeka, a visit to the University Campus in Rijeka to be used as accommodation and catering facilities for the games was made. In the afternoon, Sports Halls Zamet, Mladost and Kostrena as well as other sports facilities foreseen for Handball, Volleyball, Judo and Basketball 3x3 and the Closing Ceremony were visited.

The visit in Rijeka concluded with visiting the hotels, foreseen for EUSA officials, delegates and referees. EUSA representatives will continue with evaluation visit in the City of Zagreb.
