EUSA Evaluation Visit to Debrecen and Miskolc

EUSA Evaluation Commission for the European Universities Games 2022-2024 visited on February 15-16, 2018 the cities of Debrecen and Miskolc, Hungary. EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek, Vice-President Mr Haris Pavletic and Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik were firstly welcomed in Budapest by the representatives of the Hungarian University Sports Federation (HUSF) Mr Adam Kiss, President, Mr Mozes Szekely, Secretary General, Mr Gyorgy Kovacs and Mrs Krisztina Szentkiralyi-Szasz.

Afterwards, a meeting was held with the representative of the Ministry of Human Resources - State Secretariat for Sport, Mr Akos Reinhardt, Head of Department of Sport Affairs, who assured the governmental support in the organisation of the Games in Hungary.

Reception in Debrecen

In Debrecen, the second largest city in Hungary, EUSA representatives were welcomed by the Rector of the University of Debrecen Mr Zoltan Szilvassy and Chancellor Mr Zoltan Bacs, together with Debrecen Vice-Mayor Mr Barcsa Lajos. During the meeting, full support and commitment to the organisation of the Games was displayed by the representatives of the university and city.

Meetings in Miskolc

The next day, EUSA delegation travelled to Miskolc, where they firstly met with the Mayor of Miskolc Mr Akos Kriza. Based on the experience of successfully organising the 2017 EUSA European Universities Basketball Championship, the Mayor assured full support in organisation of EUSA Games. Present on the meetings was also Mr Zoltan Rakaczki, Director of Miskolc Sports Centre.

At the end of the visit, EUSA representatives visited the University of Miskolc, the largest university of Northern Hungary, having around 15.000 students. EUSA representatives were received by the Rector of the University Mr Andras Torma, and the Chancellor Mr Csaba Deak.

Reception

Prior in the week, the technical evaluation of the candidate city was made by EUSA Sports Manager Mr Besim Aliti and Assistant Mr Davor Travnikar.

EUSA Evaluation Commission will now prepare the report to be presented at the next EUSA Executive Committee Meeting in Paris in March, while the decision on the next European Universities Games organizer will be taken in Madrid on April 13, 2018.
