EUSA-EUG2018 Convention and Supervision Commission Meeting

Between February 1 and 4 Coimbra hosted the EUSA Supervision Commission Meeting, Convention and Workshop for the European Universities Games 2018 which will be held this summer between July 15 and 28 in the same city.

EUSA Technical delegates for the 13 sports featured in the programme of the European Universities Games Coimbra 2018, as well as their counterparts from the local organising committee met to finalise the preparations for the competitions and carried out inspection visits of the venues. The 2018 Games will feature Badminton, Basketball, 3x3 Basketball, Football, Futsal, Handball, Judo, Rowing, Rugby 7s, Table Tennis & Para Table Tennis, Tennis, Volleyball and Canoe Sprint as a demonstrative sport.

Apart from the sports meetings, EUSA Supervision Commission members and Office staff also discussed general areas, including human resources, accommodation and catering, transport, media, marketing and communications, volunteers, accreditations and registrations, security, ceremony and protocol, and other key operational areas.

Supervision Commission Meetings

Meetings were also held regarding result management, improving EUSA services which were introduced at the 2017 European Universities Championships. A special workshop was organised for the EUSA Technical delegates, discussing the improvements for the future.



Participants of the Convention were also invited to join the annual Francisco Salgado Zenha Gala of the Academica - Academic Association of Coimbra (AAC); on February 1 already the XIX edition was celebrated.



The delegation of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) was lead by EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek, Supervision Commission Chair and EUSA Vice-President Mr Haris Pavletic.

On behalf of the hosts, the team was lead by the Secretary General of the Organising Committee Mr Mario Santos and President of the Portuguese University Sport Federation (FADU) Mr Daniel Monteiro. Representatives of all partner organisations were present throughout the event - University of Coimbra, City of Coimbra, FADU and AAC, showing their full commitment and support of the Games.

EUG2018 OC and EUSA working together

Representatives of EUSA member associations will be able to inspect the venues also prior to the Games with a special NUSA coordination meeting scheduled May 8-9. Registrations for the Games are open; 2nd General Entry Deadline is February 15, 2018.
