EUSA Equal Opportunities Commission Online Meeting
EUSA Equal Opportunities Commission members came together for an online meeting on April 30. The meeting was chaired by Mr Bruno Barracosa, EUSA Executive Committee Member and the new Chair of the Commission. Present at the meeting were all other members - Ms Biscomb Kay, Ms Krisztina Szentkiralyi-Szasz, Ms Ines Lenze and Commission’s Secretary, Ms Sara Rozman.
After opening words and introduction of the Commission Members, Mr Barracosa briefly presented the effects of COVID-19 on EUSA’s plans and activities. Among others, the members were informed about the postponement of the European Universities Games Belgrade to 2021.
The next topic discussed was the EUSA Incident Policy, which was prepared by the EUSA Office with the cooperation of Equal Opportunities Commission. Ms Rozman presented the evolution of the document and the next steps. The document was submitted and will be presented on the next Executive Committee Meeting at the beginning of May.
EUSA is scheduled to have an electoral General Assembly in October this year. Mr Baracosa presented the Statutory Changes approved in EUSA General Assembly held in September 2019 where EUSA members confirmed the proposal to update the organisation’s Statutes and Internal Regulations, in order to increase representation and stability, as well as ensure and promote participation of the both genders within EUSA governing bodies. Based on the Statutory Changes and the commitment to increase the number of women on Executive Committee, the members discussed the possible strategies and awareness campaigns to promote and nominate more women for the positions within EUSA Executive Committee.
To conclude the meeting, Ms Rozman presented the projects EUSA is currently involved in, with the focus given to projects in the area of gender equality: GETZ, iFlipp, and RYSE.
Since there will be no live meeting this year, the members agreed to meet again in two months’ time.
