EUSA contributes to STS project on education through sport

Basics of physical activity, coaching, learning of lifelong skills through sport, the sport system in Europe, organisation of sporting events, networking, fundraising and good governance. These were the main topics of the training hosted at the EUSA office in Ljubljana this week through the Sport Trainers Squared project, co-funded by the European Union.
This EU funded initiative is aimed by promoting social inclusion of people with migrant background in sport environment. Among the partners, there is also Radio Capodistria, part of national broadcaster RTV Slovenia. The EUSA Institute has been coworking with the Italian language programme of Radio Slovenia for some time, on different initiatives, including a first "STS training of sport coaches" hosted already some months ago.
The goal of the training was to empower the participants with relevant skills, competences, knowledge and attitude to find opportunities in sport environment. The program was prepared by the partners: it will be part of the e-learning platform that will be created in the next weeks. Therefore, the feedback of the participants will be crucial to improve the quality of the contents. The training was based on non-formal education methods, including an interesting session of urban orienteering, used as both team-building activity as well as a way to learn new things about the history of the city. The program engaged a group of enthusiastic volunteers coming from different countries currently living in Ljubljana.
"I have appreciated the enthusiasm of the participants" - comments Antonio Saccone, the trainer - "It is always nice to find people participating wholeheartedly to initiatives aimed by promoting the societal impact of sport into the society, especially in relation with inclusion of disadvantaged groups, human rights and intercultural dialogue," concludes the journalist of Radio Capodistria.
