EUSA celebrates 5th edition of #LetsIDUS
The fifth edition of the International Day of University Sport was celebrated across the world on September 20, with the EUSA Office joining in the celebrations from Slovenia.
Proclaimed by the United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organisation (UNESCO), the International Day of University Sport (IDUS) helps create links between universities and their local communities with sport, physical activity and healthy living playing a leading role.
Celebrated annually on the 20th of September since 2016, IDUS is a platform to exchange ideas, best practices, challenges and opportunities within and through university sport worldwide.
Despite the current global situation, university sport federations across the world were able to safely and responsibly take part in several activities to commemorate the day, with events ranging from tennis matches to dance challenges and hiking.
The EUSA Office celebrated the 2020 edition of IDUS by participating in an enjoyable bicycle ride through the beautiful Slovenian countryside.
Starting in the small town of Mojstrana, the EUSA staff rode Westward along the designated bicycle path, taking in the stunning surrounds, forested areas and towering mountains in the background, before eventually reaching the Italian border, much to the delight of the four Italian volunteers currently working in the office.
Thereafter, the staff visited Planica, the highest ski-jumping slope in Slovenia, thereafter stopping in Kranjska Gora before returning to Mojstrana.
IDUS activities will continue and spill over into the upcoming weeks, combining with the upcoming European Week of Sport which is celebrated every year from September 23-30.
