EUSA Badminton kicks off EUC2019
The Opening Ceremony of European Universities Badminton Champions 2019 took place at Sports Bay in Lodz, Poland on 23 June, officially kicking off the summer sports programme of the 2019 European Universities Championships.
EUC Badminton, alongside EUC Golf, are the first two of 21 sports taking place at 16 separate events in 14 host cities across nine different countries this summer, kicking off a busy European university sports schedule.
EUC Badminton’s Opening Ceremony was attended by vice-rector of Lodz University of Technology Professor Witold Pawłowski and Director of the Department of Sport of the City of Lodz, Mr Marek Kondraciuk.
EUSA Executive Committee representative Mr Panos Razis welcomed all participants and wished all the teams and participants who came to test their skills and abilities well ahead of the start of the competition, while also thanking the Organising Committee for all their contributions.
The competition, which runs from June 23-29, is being organised by Lodz University of Technology Sports Association with the contribution of Lodz University of Technology and the Polish University Sports Association.
EUSA is represented at the event by Mr Panos Razis and Mr Liam Smith while the Technical Delegates present are Mr Erik Ligtvoet and Ms Isabelle Jobard, who will make sure that the event runs smoothly and without problems.
EUC Badminton 2019 involves 15 university teams from 11 countries, with the title of European Universities Badminton Champion currently defended by Uludag University from Turkey.
