EUSA attends GETZ meeting and Student Conference in Molde

The partners of the EU-funded project Equality Toolkit for Generation Z (GETZ) on gender equality met for a successful 5th Steering Committee Meeting and Student Conference on March 9-10 in Molde, Norway.

EUSA, through the EUSA Institute, is a partner in the project, and was represented in Norway by Education and Development Manager Ms Sara Rozman EUSA, Student Commission Chair and Executive Committee member Ms Anna Edes and ESC volunteer Ms Amelie Bury.

The meeting took place in the beautiful surroundings of University Colleague Molde and was attended by representatives of the University of Worcester (GBR), Molde University College (NOR), Croatian Olympic Committee (CRO), Swedish Sports Confederation (SWE) and the EUSA Institute (SLO), while representatives of Vrije University of Brussels (BEL) joined the meeting via Skype.

GETZ project partners

The main aim of the Gender Equality Toolkit for generation Z (GETZ) project, which is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, is to facilitate gender equality in sport leadership by educating and empowering Generation Z, to enable them to become the change agents and role models who can breakdown the gender stereotypes and gender barriers for future generations. The main part of the GETZ toolkit will be implemented in form of Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), consisting of a unique set of lessons and resources specifically designed to highlight the issue of gender equality in sport in a practical, theoretical and applied way.

The meeting in Molde began with a general overview of project activities, presented by Ms Vanessa Jones from the University of Worcester, the lead partner. The meeting continued with a discussion on the current work plan of all partners with special emphasis given to the MOOC Survey, roll out strategy of each partner and dissemination activities in the last phase of the project. It was also a chance to discuss the final meeting and GETZ Conference, set to take place in Worcester, in November 2020.

On the second day of the meeting, the GETZ partners took part in a Student Conference titled “Gender Equality in Sport. Young today – Equal tomorrow”. After the opening speeches, Ms Sarah Zipp gave a keynote speech on the topic of Gender and Sport for Development.

GETZ Student Conference

The Conference was organized by Molde University College students in cooperation with students that were nominated by each GETZ project partner. EUSA nominated Ms Anna Edes, EUSA Executive Committee Member and Chair of Student Commission, who co-hosted one out of six workshops organised during the Conference.
