EUSA at the Youth Sport Conference 2016 in Ljubljana

University of Ljubljana hosted the 8th international conference on Youth Sport on December 9 and 10, 2016. The event was attended also by representatives of the European University Sports Association (EUSA).

The Conference is a biannual event organised by the Faculty of Sport at the University of Ljubljana. Slovenia has a long tradition in sport, but special efforts are put to physical education of youth. Continuing the tradition, the 8th Conference on Youth Sport brought together stakeholders in sport science, sport research and youth sport.

Opening by Mr Milan Zvan

EUSA was represented by Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, Ms Sara Rozman, Mr Andrej Pisl and Mr Liam Smith. The event was opened on behalf of the hosts by Mr Milan Zvan, Dean of the Faculty of Sport at the University of Ljubljana. Mr Zvan is also the President of the Slovenian University Sports Association (SUSA) and Member of the EUSA Executive Committee.

8th edition of the Youth Sport Conference 2016

The event was attended by over 100 participants from 21 countries, among others also by Mrs Laura Capranica, President of the European Athlete as Student (EAS) - the Dual Career Network and professor of Sport Sciences at the University of Rome Foro Italico, Mrs Mojca Doupona Topic, EAS Treasurer and Vice-Dean for Science and Research at the Faculty of Sport.

Topics covered at the 2016 Youth Sport Conference were: Challenges in the field of physical education, Youth Development, Training and testing, Sports career dilemmas, Education of young athletes, Medicine and injury prevention, Performance and match analysis, Principles for sports training in youth sports, Talent identification, with Open papers and poster sections.

University sport represented at the Official reception

The Conference also featured a reception at the Ljubljana City Hall and served as a forum for sport science researchers to gather and extend networking between them and to integrate doctoral students and young researchers into the field.
