EUSA at the Sport&EU Conference in Madrid

Association for the Study of Sport and the European Union (Sport&EU) organized their 11th Annual Conference in Madrid, 27-28 June 2016. Mr Aitor Canibe Sanchez, EUSA Executive Committee Member represented the European University Sports Association at the event.

During the conference, besides a record number of academic papers, Mr Canibe Sanchez presented results of the study of gender equality in university sports.

Mr Aleksandar Vuletic (University Union Nikola Tesla Belgrade) and Mrs Angela Busacca (Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria) joined him in the panel on the importance of gender in sports and the reality not only in quantitative terms, but also and essentially from the perspective of the quality and variety of programmes related to gender equality.

Other sports-related topics were the reinforcement of good governance: new sport’s horizon, supporters, sport, equality, participation and fundamental rights, as well as inter-disciplinary approaches to regulation European sport governance, and others. The event provided a platform for academic and policy debate on EU sport policy and networking.
