EUSA at the ENGSO Forum 2015

ENGSO, the European Non-Governmental Sports Organisation, held its annual Forum on September 11 and 12 in Brussels, this year directly related to the European Week of Sport. EUSA was represented at the event by its Communications and Projects Manager Mr Andrej Pisl.

Participants – representatives of ENGSO members, partners, European Commission, EACEA and invited guests – were welcomed at the Brussels Square, the central venue of the European Week of Sport campaign in Brussels, by the President of ENGSO Mr Carlos Cardoso and Secretary General Mrs Helena Carlsson who also opened the first session on Friday.

Funding opportunities and experiences were explained

The Forum started a seminar on EU funding and possibilities for sport where the opportunities within the Erasmus+ Sport and Youth Chapters, as well as the decentralised fundings and structural funds were presented. Mr Luciano Di Fonzo, Head of Sector of Sport and Youth from the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency of the European Commission (EACEA) also gave feedback on the implementation of the Erasmus+ programme.

Panel discussion on the role of clubs

The Saturday part highlighted the #BeActive focus day on sports clubs, discussing the role of sports clubs in changing society in future. After the presentations of reserachers and sports governing bodies, a panel debate concluded the event.

Activities during the forum

The Forum also activated the participants, both within the Forum slots, as well as afterwards in the sports venues outside.

EUSA, ENGSO Youth and ESU

At the Forum there was also an opportunity to meet and discuss the possibilities of closer cooperation between the existing partners EUSA and ENGSO, specifically also their Youth section, and the European Student Union (ESU).

EUSA is otherwise currently a partner in the SCORE project on strengthening coaching with the objective to raise gender equality.
