EUSA at the AIPS Congress and Seminar 2015

Belarusian Olympic Committee in Minsk hosted a Seminar for the European Media during the 2015 Congress of the European Sports Press Association (AIPS Europe). At this occasion the European University Sports Association (EUSA) was invited to present its activities to the delegates. EUSA Vice President and Chairman of the Media and Communication Committee Mr Leonz Eder attended the AIPS events in Belarus.

EUSA presentation included the structure of the Association, the sport activities, educational aspects and projects, also mentioning the different partners such as the International University Sports Federation (FISU), European Commission, European Fair Play Movement (EFPM), European Paralympic Committee (EPC), European Non-Governmental Sports Organisation (ENGSO), as well as sports governing bodies and other partners.

Mr Eder expressed the wish of EUSA to soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding with AIPS Europe in order to strengthen the relations with different European media stakeholders. Besides of presenting the EUSA and its variety of activities, Mr Eder also announced the concept of “Communicating Educational, Youth and Sport Project” which is intended to be held next year in Slovenia and will invite AIPS Europe guest speakers to attend.

Event venue - Olympic Committee

Besides of opening addresses of Belarus political and sport authorities and the EUSA presentation, also representatives and delegates of the European Youth Olympic Festival Minsk 2019, International Biathlon Festival “Legends of the World Biathlon”, Minsk Half Marathon, Sports Media Master Program at University of Nicosia, European Taekwondo Federation and the 1st European Games Baku 2015 introduced their sports and events to the AIPS Europe Congress.

EUSA and EFPM

Two debates were held to the topic of Sport Media Rights in Europe, and after the Presentation of the European Fair Play Movement the announcement of the first Media Fair Play Awards was made: The winner of this award is Mr Nikolai Dolgopolov, Moscow, Deputy Editor-in-Chief or Rossiyskaya Gazeta and AIPS Vice President.

Prominent speakers at the event

The event concluded with a Memory of Understanding between AIPS Europe and he European Taekwondo Union (ETU) was signed, before the delegates and guests were taken to a venue tour to the Main Minsk Sports Arenas.
