EUSA at the 2017 Erasmus+ Sport Info Day

The 2017 Erasmus+ Sport Info Day was hosted in Brussels on January 31 by the European Commission and the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). The event, which also celebrated the 30th anniversary of Erasmus, was attended by over 500 participants, and European University Sports Association (EUSA) was also represented at the event.

The event offered information about Erasmus+ Sport chapter, its funding opportunities, EU sport policy background and also provided examples of good practice. Opened by the European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, Mr Tibor Navracsics and Director of the Director – Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency Mr Brian Holmes, the event gathered policy makers, sports organisations, NGOs and other bodies directly or indirectly linked to the field of sport.

Three plenary sessions focused on Erasmus+ Sport, The Policy Context; Submission and Selection Procedure and other EU funding opportunities, while parallel sessions focused on Evaluation process, Financial workshop and novelty introduced already last year - Small Collaborative Partnerships.

There were also plenty of networking opportunities, with theme-specific working sessions on Encouraging participation in sport and physical activities especially by supporting Council Recommendation on HEPA, EU Physical Activities Guidelines, Combatting doping, notably in recreational environments, Combatting violence and tackle racism, discrimination and intolerance in sport, Promoting education in and through sport with special focus on skills development, as well supporting the implementation of the EU Guidelines on Dual Careers of Athletes, Promoting voluntary activity in sport, Encouraging participation in sport and physical activities especially by supporting the implementation of the European Week of Sport, Combatting match-fixing, Encouraging social inclusion and equal opportunities in sport and Good governance in sport.

Conclusions

EUSA Communications and Projects Manager Mr Andrej Pisl took the opportunity to meet with the representatives of the European Commission, partner organisations, including the European Non-Governmental Sport Organisation (ENGSO and ENGSO Youth), European Athlete as Student (EAS) - the Dual Career Network, as well as representatives of other organisations as potential new partners.
