EUSA at 25th Anniversary of Olympic Committee of Slovenia

EUSA Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik took part at the celebration activities of the 25th Anniversary of the Olympic Committee of Slovenia, which was held on October 15, 2016 in Ljubljana.

The celebration started with the International Conference on Ethics in Sport - Fighting corruption. Among the invited speakers there were also Prime Minister of Slovenia, Mr Miro Cerar, Acting President of European Olympic Committees Mr Janez Kocijancic, Minister for Education and Sport, Mrs Maja Makovec Brencic and Olympic Committee of Slovenia President Mr Bogdan Gabrovec.

After the conference, the NOC Executive Committee met at its meeting to discuss the report on the implementation of the financing plan for the first eight months, the final report on the summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, and discussed other topical issues of Slovenian sport.

The 25th Birthday of Olympic Committee of Slovenia concluded with a gala event, on which the biggest sports and other achievements of Slovenian sport in the past 25 years were remembered. On behalf of the European University Sports Association (EUSA), Mr Matjaz Pecovnik thanked the Olympic Committee of Slovenia and its member federation Slovenian Universities Sports Association for partnership during past years, both on the field of organisation of several European Universities Championships held in Slovenia, as well as in several partnership projects in the field of education.

EUSA Secretary General also thanked Mr Miroslav Cerar, Vice-President of the European Fair Play Movement (EFPM) and the President of Slovenian Olympic Academy for his continuous support to EUSA on the field of promotion of Fair Play among student population. At the end of his address, Mr Pecovnik presented a gift to Mr Bogdan Gabrovec, President of Olympic Committee of Slovenia.
