EUSA at 20th Anniversary General Assembly AUSF
Under the leadership of Mr Zhang Xinsheng, China, the President of the Asian University Sports Federation, the AUSF celebrated its 20th Anniversary and hosted the 7th General Assembly in Cha-Am, Thailand on November 29, 2012. At the same time, Cha-Am was also the host city of the 2nd AUSF Beach Volleyball Championship, attended by 17 countries with 25 male and 19 female teams. 27 countries were present at the celebration of the AUSF festivities.
Among several welcome addresses, Oleg Matytsin, FISU 1st Vice-President and EUSA Vice-President, took the floor on behalf of FISU President Claude-Louis Gallien and congratulated AUSF to its success and great development.
EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek thanked both the AUSF President Mr Zhang and Mr Prasart Seunka, President of the University Sports Board of Thailand (USBT), for the kind invitation and hospitality. "It's with my great pleasure to pass you the best wishes from Europe, on behalf of the European University Sports Association, your younger sister, born in 1999," Mr Roczek said. "At the age of 20, a young woman or man is not a child anymore but is not yet an adult. She or he has an open mind and is full of passion and energy to change the world," he stated. EUSA President Roczek stressed the fact, that "I meet here a very vital organisation, full of passion and energy of its members. AUSF is hardly but with joy working to make Asian and the world a better place through the university sport." In Closing, EUSA President said: "I wish you keep this energy and passion for the next not only 20, but 100 years to come. Long life for the AUSF!"
The two EUSA representatives, President Adam Roczek and Vice-President Mr Leonz Eder presented an official EUSA plaquette and a special gift to AUSF President Mr Xinsheng.
At the Assembly, EUSA representatives took the opportunity to discuss issues of cooperation with FISU and inter-continental cooperation, as well as some individual projects and events.
AUSF was founded in 1992 in Bangkok, Thailand, by 17 Asian member countries. 23 AUSF member countries attended the 7th GA and the 20st Anniversary of AUSF, which were again celebrated in Thailand.
