EUSA and WAKO meet in Ljubljana

Secretary General of the WAKO European Kickboxing Federation (WAKO Europe) Mr Srdjan Bugarcic met with EUSA Sports Manager Mr Besim Aliti for a working meeting in Ljubljana, Slovenia on October 14, where cooperation between the two organisations was discussed.

As an official partner of EUSA, WAKO played a major supporting role in this year’s EUSA Combat Championships in Zagreb, Croatia, the biggest Championship event of the summer which saw 1 237 participants from 404 different universities and 36 countries take part.

This year's Championship involved Kickboxing for the very first time on the EUSA Programme, with Mr Bugarcic well-pleased with the sport’s debut showing in Zagreb, where 107 male athletes and 67 female athletes competed.

The meeting continued with discussions around future joint activities and cooperation, with high expectations ahead of Kickboxing’s first showing at a European Universities Games, where it will form part of the official programme at the fifth European Universities Games in Belgrade, Serbia next year.

Thereafter, Zagreb will again play host to the 2021 EUSA Combat Championships, where an even bigger field of Kickboxing participants is expected.

Mr Bugarcic, while present in the EUSA Office, was also able to meet with EUSA’s Assistant Sports Manager Mr Liam Smith and Sports Assistant Ms Lea Medvesek.
