EUSA and EJU sign Memorandum of Understanding
A Memorandum of Understanding between the European University Sports Association (EUSA) and European Judo Union (EJU) was signed earlier this week, strengthening general cooperation and partnership between the two organisations.
EUSA, represented by its President Mr Adam Roczek and Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, and European Judo Union (EJU), represented by its President Mr Sergey Soloveychik and Vice-President Michal Vachun, signed the Memorandum on June 23 in Minsk, Belarus.
Judo has been part of the EUSA sports programme since 2011, when the first European Universities Judo Championship was held in the Bosnia and Herzogovina capital Sarajevo. Four editions of European Universities Judo Championships have been organised in total, while Judo also appeared in the previous two editions of the European Universities Games, in Zagreb-Rijeka 2016 and Coimbra 2018.
Judo will this year make up one of four different sports at the European Universities Combat Championships in Zagreb, taking place from July 31 to August 3 in the Croatian capital, while it will also feature as one of the twenty sports at next year’s European Universities Games in Belgrade, Serbia.
The aim of the signed Memorandum of Understanding is for EUSA and EJU to work together in activities and projects promoting judo as a university sport in Europe, promote and contribute to the development of judo competitions among students while also exchanging information and searching for new opportunities arising from the newly-signed cooperation.
