European Week of Sport 2015 launched

European Week of Sport 2015 launched

The first edition of the European Week of Sport, initiative of the European Commission, is starting today! It takes place from September 7 to 13, 2015 on European level and the participating countries have the opportunity to carry out activities and events at national level until the end of the month. The European Week of Sport is based on existing good practices, implementing new ideas and linking them together. It features four Focus Days - Education, Workplaces, Outdoors, Clubs & Fitness centres.

During the Week, the European Commission opened the European Sport Village in Brussels, which was opened today by Mr Tibor Navracsics, EU Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport.

EUSA Badminton Championship

European University Sports Association (EUSA) is one of the official partners of the Commission for the European Week of Sport and the #BeActive campaign in 2015. EUSA has been promoting the initiative and campaign all-year-long at our sports events, conference, media channels, banners and publications but during the Week, special focus will be given to our flagship event.

EUSA Sport Climbing Championship

Licensed and supervised by the EUSA, the European Universities Rowing Championships have been organised since 2005, and are one of the most prestigious student sport events. Competitors in the championship are aged 17-30 and are representing their universities. This year’s edition is taking place between September 9 and 12 in Hannover, and we expect over 500 participants to take part in the event.

EUSA is organising the European Universities Rowing Championship in the European Week of Sport

Through EUSA sports events we promote the idea of dual careers, encouraging students to pursue their academic, as well as sports careers, on all levels - even if they are not top performance athletes. EUSA events feature sports, education, culture and social elements. Especially for the European Week of Sport several additional demonstrational and participatory activities will be introduced also for the spectators, passers-by and citizens - everyone is welcome to check it out!
