European Universities Sport events 2022
EUSA flagship events such as the European Universities Games in Lodz and the EUSA Rowing Championship in Istanbul as well as EUSA’s patronage sport events were events that wrapped up the successful days before the recent start of the new academic year.
The European University Sports Association had a very successful season of sport events happening around Europe, either as flagship events or as patronage events. After a very successful European Universities Games in July in Lodz, where more than 4459 participants, representing 422 universities from 38 countries and over 800 volunteers participating, the 2022 European Universities Rowing Championship in Istanbul marked the 12th anniversary from the introduction of rowing to the EUSA sports programme. With having 534 participants representing 71 Universities from 16 countries who took part in this year’s edition of the event, it paced the way for the next Championship in Rowing that will take place next year in Bydgoszcz (POL).
EUSA is very pleased to also witness a very successful post Covid-19 year, showing great results from the already-established university sport events in Europe, that EUSA has granted its patronage, helping to promote them through its networks.
One of these events was the European Open University Powerlifting Cup 2022, held between March 23 and 27 in Hamm, Luxembourg where 144 athletes representing their universities from 18 countries from across Europe, took part in the event. During May 2022, two EUSA patronage events were held, the International Regatta Sveti Duje in Split held from 14-15 of May, celebrating the 20th jubilee and the 37th edition of the SELL Games hosted by the city of Riga in Latvia from 20-22 of May.
