European Universities Rowing Championship in Istanbul concluded
The 2022 European Universities Rowing Championship in Istanbul has concluded on Friday, 9 September with an exciting Closing Ceremony and Ferry Tour.
534 participants represented 71 Universities from 16 countries who took part in this year’s edition of the event. The European Universities Rowing Championship in Istanbul marked 12th anniversary from the introduction of rowing to the EUSA sports programme.
Over the last few days, competitions took place in several categories, for men and women student athletes, representing the European universities where they study.
In the most prestigious race, the eights, in men’s category, the University of Lyon (FRA) claimed the champions’ title over Institute of Technology (GER) and Charles University (CZE). In the women’s eights finals, Charles University (CZE) secured the title of the champions, reaching the finish line ahead of Institute of Technology (GER) and Leibniz University of Hanover (GER).
The medals and awards were presented by the President of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) Mr Adam Roczek, EUSA Technical Delegate for Rowing Mr Lionel Girard, Rector of the Yeditepe University Ms Canan Aykut Bingöl, the President of the Turkish University Sports Federation Mr Mehmet Gunay and the Head of the Organising Committee Mr Taner Karabulut.

1. Leiden University (NED)
2. Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz (POL)
3. University of Vienna (AUT)
The 2022 European Universities Rowing Championship was organised by the Turkish University Sports Federation (TUSF) and Yeditepe University, with the contribution of Istanbul General Directorate of Youth and Sport, Fatih Municipality Canoe and Rowing Sports Center, under the licence of the European University Sports Association (EUSA).
The next European Universities Rowing Championship will take place next year in Bydgoszcz (POL) from 7 to 10 September. All teams are warmly welcomed to join the next EUSA Rowing event!
