European Universities Rowing Championship 2017 opens in Subotica
Representatives of the European University Sport Association (EUSA), University Sport Federation of Serbia (USSS), regional and local authorities together with the organising committee warmly welcomed over 500 participants at the Opening ceremony of the European Universities Rowing Championship 2017 on July 13 in Subotica, Serbia.
The competitions are held between July 14 and 16 at the beautiful Lake Palic in Subotica. This is the 10th year of the EUSA rowing events, having over 80 European universities from 21 countries represented.
At the Opening Ceremony the participants were addressed by EUSA Executive Committee Member Mr Ceslovas Garbaliauskas, USSS President Mr Sinisa Jasnic, Youth and Sport Regional Secretary Mr Vladimir Batez and City Secretary for Sport Mr Nemanja Simovic.
Apart from the participants, the ceremony was attended also by VIP guests, including the EUSA Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, local and national authorities and other interested public.
The event features tough competition across the three days as the top student athletes compete for Gold in both sweep and sculling disciplines. Although this is a competition, the event is held in a friendly atmosphere, promoting university sport values like fair play, diversity, tolerance, dual career, as well as importance of physical activity in general.
EUSA is represented at the event by Executive Committee Member Mr Ceslovas Garbaliauskas as the Chair of the SCAC, Mr Josip Kostelic as the Technical delegate, assisted by Mrs Agata Masalsk-Pawlak and Mr Davor Travnikar, EUSA Sports Assistant.
