European Universities Games Coimbra 2018 activities in December

December was a busy month also for the Organisers of the European Universities Games Coimbra 2018 (EUG2018).

The month started with hosting a delegation of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) between December 3 and 5, finalising the arrangements before opening the registration.

The registration for the 4th edition of the European Universities Games opened on December 15 and already a substantial number of teams submitted their registration.

EUSA and EUG2018 team

Just before the opening of the registrations, the organising committee also visited Cordoba, host city of the 1st European Universities Games. This time, Cordoba hosted the National Universities Sports Days where several topics were discussed regarding universities sport in Spain. In the presence of representatives of the Spanish University Sport Committee (CEDU) and EUSA, the 4th edition of the European Universities Games was presented, with great interest of the Spanish universities to attend.

EUG2018 promotion in Spain

Between December 15 and 19, organisers of EUG2018 also hosted a delegation of the next host of the European Universities Games - Belgrade 2020 (EUG2020). At the meeting, the Coimbra organisers shared their organizing experience so far, the challenges they are overcoming to achieve the success they aim for. The team from Belgrade 2020, lead by Mr Sinisa Jasnic, took the opportunity to visit the sports venues that will serve EUG2018, as well as hotels, dormitories, catering areas, and also getting to know the local culture.

EUG2020 visit

Before Christmas holidays, the EUG2018 Organizing Committee and the Portuguese Table Tennis Federation (FPTM) signed a memorandum agreement to assure the technical organization of two events in the EUG2018 sports programme: Table Tennis and Para-Table Tennis. FPTM will assure the sporting equipment for both sports during EUG2018, supply resources to guarantee all equipment working, nominate local referees, ensure technical sports management, coordination and fulfilling of all sports rules, as well as the nominate the local technical delegate.

The Organising Committee continued with recruitment of new taskforce, and it is still possible to apply for volunteering positions during the Games. At the end of the year, the organisers wish everyone Happy holidays and that 2018 is a year of many achievements.

EUG2018 greetings

Registration for the European Universities Games Coimbra 2018 is open; first General Entry deadline is January 15, 2018. Interested participants should contact the national university sports body in their respective country.
