European Universities Games 2028 Bidding opened
We are proud to announce the start of the bidding procedure for the 2028 European Universities Games.
The European Universities Games (EUG) is a multi-sport university sports competition governed by the European University Sports Association (EUSA). As such, they represent the largest European multisport student event, also combining education and culture. Participants primarily represent their universities.
Since the first edition held in Cordoba, Spain in 2012, the Games have been organised on a biannual basis. The last edition was held in Lodz, Poland this year, with the event attracting over 4400 participants representing over 400 European universities from 37 countries. The next editions of the European Universities Games will be held in 2024 in Debrecen-Miskolc (HUN) and in 2026 in Salerno (ITA).
The programme for the 2028 edition of the European Universities Games should include the following sports:
- COMPULSORY (12): 3x3 Basketball, Badminton, Basketball, Beach Handball, Beach Volleyball, Football, Futsal, Handball, Rowing, Table Tennis, Tennis, Volleyball
- COMBAT SPORTS (4): included all / or organised as separate EUC Combat Sports: Judo, Karate, Kickboxing, Taekwondo
- OPTIONAL (up to 8): Chess, Golf, Orienteering, Padel, Rugby 7s, Sports Climbing, Swimming, Water Polo)
Bidding schedule and procedure:
- OCTOBER 15, 2022: Opening of the Bidding Procedure
- OCTOBER 15, 2022 - SEPTEMBER 30, 2023: Seminar for Interested Cities, Letter of Intention, Bidding Fee Payment
- OCTOBER 1, 2023 - DECEMBER 31, 2023: Working Meetings with Interested Cities
- FEBRUARY 15, 2024: Bidding Dossier Submission
- MARCH 1, 2024 - APRIL 30, 2024: Evaluation Visits to the Candidate Cities, Attribution of the Games, Signing of the Contract, Attribution Fee Payment
