European Universities Beach Volleyball Championship 2017 concluded

The 11th European Universities Beach Volleyball Championship, part of the EUSA Split2017, came to the end on July 30, with the finals, the awards and closing ceremony, followed by a beach party.

From July 25, the Znjan beach in Split, hosted 20 male and 20 female university teams representing best student beach volleyball players from all over Europe.

Attractive beach volleyball competitions

The competitions were part of the 2017 European Universities Championships in 3x3 Basketball, Beach Volleyball and Sport Climbing which were hosted in Split, Croatia, and Beach Volleyball was the last of the sports events to conclude the event.

The event also featured evening matches

EUSA Split 2017 events were hosted under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Croatia, organised by the Split University Sport Association, University of Split and the Croatian Academic Sport Association, supported by the City of Split, Split-Dalmatia County, Student Center at the University of Split, Student Assembly of the University of Split, local sports clubs and other partners.

Finals

Beach Volleyball competitions were full of excitement and drama throughout the event, but always in the spirit of fair play and friendship.

Female medallists

In women's tournament, the champion became the University of Warsaw 2 (POL), winning the team of the University of Graz (AUT) in the finals. Bronze medals were won by the team of the University of Warsaw 3 (POL).

Male medallists

Men's tournament brought a spectacular final match between University of Warsaw (POL) and Vilnius University (LTU). Although the first set was absolutely tied and won by the University of Warsaw, in the second one the Vilnius University had to congratulate their colleagues from the University of Warsaw for their well-deserved gold. The boys of Technical University of Munich (GER) won third place.

Fair Play awards

Fair play award was received by the team of University of Graz (AUT) in women's and Technical University of Munich (GER) in men's category.

MVPs

The award for most valuable players (MVP's) were received by Klaudia Swistek representing University of Warsaw (POL) in female category, while in male category, the award was received by his colleague and partner Piotr Ilewicz representing the same university.

Medals and awards presenters

Medals and awards were presented by EUSA Executive Committee Member Mr Tarmo Jaakson, EUSA Technical Delegate Mr Adriano Paco and assistant Michalina Laz, Member of the Croatian Parliament Mr Ante Bacic and President of Croatian Student Council Mr Petar Ramljak.

EUSA closing speech

EUSA was represented at the Beach Volleyball also by Mr Lorenz Ursprung, EUSA Treasurer, assisted by EUSA Staff Mr Andrej Pisl and Mr Davor Travnikar.

Passing of the EUSA flag

At the end of the formal part, EUSA flag was brought onto the field, accompanied by the Gaudeamus Igitur anthem, to be passed onto the next host of the European Universities Beach Volleyball Championship, which is to be held in 2019 in Koper, Slovenia.
