EUG2026 Bidding Seminar received with big interest

European University Sports Association (EUSA) organised today the EUG2026 Bidding Seminar, explaining the bidding process for the European Universities Games 2026 (EUG2026).

The event was held online, and has received a substantial interest from our member associations, having 12 member countries registering for the webinar and showing initial interest in the bidding process.

Introdution of the concept and philosophy of EUSA events

Participants were welcomed by EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek, and EUSA Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik gave an overview of the concept of the European Universities Games, with historical overview, development of the organisation and its biggest sporting event, and its legacy.

Detailed bidding process, and characteristics of the European Universities Games were presented by EUSA Sports Manager Mr Besim Aliti. Mr Aliti also highlighted the support offered by EUSA through resources and activities like the transfer of knowledge programme, and shared highlights and achievements of the past events, as well as some experiences of the past events organisers.

Transfer of knowledge programme helps events organisers

The interest in the introductory seminar showed that there is interest in hosting the European Universities Games, and also specifically in bidding for the 2026 edition of the event. Potential hosts may submit their letter of intention by October 1, 2021, and the event is to be attributed in the spring of 2022.
