EUG2024: NUSA Coordination Meeting
On July 11, 2024, a hybrid NUSA Coordination Meeting was held at the Universities of Miskolc and Debrecen. Present were representatives of the National University Sports Associations (NUSA) in Hungary for the occasion of the European Universities Games 2024 that are officially opening tomorrow, and representatives of the European University Sports Association (EUSA).
The opening words of this NUSA Coordination Meeting were given by Mr Haris Pavletic, First Vice president of EUSA, who thanked the representatives for attending this meeting and invited them to share any challenges or questions they have regarding the time in Debrecen and Miskolc, by far.
Next to greet the present NUSA representatives was Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, EUSA Secretary General, who addressed that besides all the challenges that the organization of these games had, he is happy to see everyone at the event in big numbers and with big excitement. He also stated that the start of the competitions is going smoothly, without any major concerns or challenges. He assured the attendees that the Organizational Committee and EUSA both are going to make sure that everyone will have a great stay and enjoyable time here at the European Universities Games 2024 in Hungary.
Representatives of the Organizational Committee, Mr Peter Juhász, Hungarian University Sports Federation MEFS Secretary General, and Mr Gyorgy Kovacs, MEFS Head of Domestic and International Competitive Sports, were also present and had a welcoming message for the NUSA representatives. they expressed their happiness at seeing that over 4700 participants will arrive in the two cities, starting their journey at the European Universities Games 2024. Addressed were also a few challenges that have already arisen and have been taken care of.
All of the speakers invited the NUSA representatives to collaborate as much as possible with the OC and EUSA, to make these games run as smoothly as possible and to ensure that everyone is having a great time.
Information about many logistical issues, organizational matters and the Opening Ceremony were shared. The schedule and location of the transportation and other details regarding the march pass and the presence of the athletes and officials were presented.
This year’s edition of the European Universities Games will start with a grand opening ceremony on the evening of July 12, starting at 8PM. The event will be held in the amazing DVTK Arena in Miskloc.
