EUG2024: dynamic 5th day of competition
Today is a new day for EUG2024, officially the 5th day of competition. For some, it is just the start, as we welcome another group of athletes: the Karate teams! For others, the competition is already unravelling with a great amount of energy and passion, as they are getting closer to the end.
We are on the third day of 3x3 Basketball in Debrecen, FISU qualifying event where the winners in both men’s and women’s categories earn a coveted spot at the 2024 FISU University World Cup 3×3 Basketball in China. The courts were ablaze with energy as great passes and impressive threes dominated the matches. In a nail-biting men's game, Corvinus University of Budapest (HUN) edged out the University of Split (CRO) in a heart-stopping 21-20 victory.
The intensity continued in the women’s category, where two teams from the same country, University of Valencia (ESP) and University of Girona (ESP) played to get one scale higher in the qualification rounds.
On the fourth day of Football, the spotlight shone brightly on th s football teams as the men enjoyed a well-deserved rest day, making it a thrilling day of non-stop action for the ladies at EUG2024. The atmosphere was electric as two incredible games unfolded. The first match saw the University of Coimbra (POR) and the Eindhoven University of Technology (NED) go head-to-head in a fiercely contested battle.
The excitement didn’t stop there, as the second game featured a riveting clash between the Polytechnic University of Hauts-de-France (FRA) and the University of Valencia (ESP).
Futsal and Volleyball on their fifth day and the competition is going stronger than ever.
The fifth day of the futsal tournaments in Debrecen during EUG2024 was a showcase of sheer athleticism and competitive spirit across both men’s and women’s categories. In the women’s division, the University of Pecs (HUN) faced off against Nova University of Lisbon (POR), with the Hungarian team emerging victorious, much to the delight of their supporters.
The excitement carried into the afternoon as the men's teams took the stage, with the University of Kiel (GER) clashing against Ivano-Frankivsk College of Physical Education (UKR).
The day was filled with intense matches, remarkable plays, and energy that underscored the passion and dedication of all the athletes involved.
In the afternoon match between University of Maribor (SLO) and Unviersity of Seville (ESP), we had surprise visit of DeMi the mascot! DeMi cheered the competing teams and was more than happy to offer its presence in the final photoshooting.
In Miskolc, the final stages of volleyball at EUG2024 featured the men's quarter-finals, showcasing an intense level of competition. Teams from various universities battled fiercely for a spot in the semi-finals, delivering thrilling matches filled with spectacular spikes, strategic plays, and impressive teamwork. The atmosphere was electric, with fans cheering passionately for their favourite teams.
