EUG2021 COVID-19 protocol presented to NUSAs
The European University Sports Association hosted an online meeting with its National University Sports Association members on Wednesday, March 3, where the COVID-19 protocol for this summer’s European Universities Games in Belgrade, Serbia was presented.
Over 50 participants were present in the meeting, representing over 30 different countries, as an update was given in terms of the local organiser’s preparations for the Games.
After a welcome address from EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek, EUG2021 Director Mr Predrag Juskovic shared his welcoming message. EUSA Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik then shared his views following the EUSA Office’s recent visit to Belgrade, where great progress was noted across various departments at the EUSA-EUG2021 Supervision Commission Meeting.
EUSA Sports Manager Mr Besim Aliti presented a progress report from the key sectors, noting the immense strides forward across all organisational departments, giving meeting attendees insight into the readiness of, among others, the sport venues, human resources, security, accommodation and catering.
EUG Head of Medical Department Mr Nikola Cikiriz and COVID-19 Manager Mr Sinisa Masic then presented an overview of the COVID-19 protocol currently in place for the Games, outlining the various measures and precautions that will be in place for all participants.
Formulated by experts along with local health authorities, the protocol covers hygiene measures across all areas, with solutions in place to ensure the safety and protection of all athletes, volunteers, officials and organisers.
The health and safety of all involved at EUG2021 remain both EUSA and the Organising Committee’s primary concern, and following Serbia’s current progress in terms of overcoming the pandemic, organisers are confident that a safe, successful and memorable event will be enjoyed by all.
The EUG20201 COVID-19 protocol is being made available to all National University Sports Associations, who are welcome to send questions to the EUSA Office, who will collate them and prepare responses in cooperation with the EUG2021 local organising committee.
