EUG2016 Sports meeting in April
EUSA Sports Manager Mr Patrik Perosa visited Zagreb on April 13 for a series of sports meetings related to this year’s European Universities Games (EUG2016) which will be held in Zagreb and Rijeka between July 12 and 25, 2016.
The April meetings focused on Golf, Karate, Rugby 7s, Table Tennis and Tennis. Due to the passing of EUSA Technical Delegate for Golf Mr Rob Macpherson, Mr Karl Berger has been appointed as the Technical Delegate for the Games. Mr Perosa and Mr Berger visited the golf course and venues, confirming top quality of the over 6000m2 playing surface.
In Table Tennis, due to high interest of the teams, men’s tournament has been extended to 28, while female tournament will be able to accommodate 18 teams. Reconstruction of the Tennis courts and facilities is going well.
Rugby 7s will be played in a new location, also used by the national team playing international matches.
Karate competitions, lead by the Croatian Karate Federation, will be held near to the campus where participants will be accommodated.
It is important to note that the registration for the Games closed on April 15, and has been extended to May 1 for the following sports: Bridge, Chess, Golf, Karate, Para Swimming, Para Table Tennis, Rowing, Rugby 7s and Sport climbing.
