On June 10, 2015, the relevant partners of the European Universities Games Zagreb-Rijeka 2016 held a special meeting in Zagreb, in order to prepare the sports event for inclusion of students with impairments and disabilities.

The participants discussed a wide range of topics, including the cooperation of the relevant partners, including not only the local organising committee (EUG 2016), European University Sports Association (EUSA) and the European Paralympic Committee (EPC), but also the national university sports associations (NUSA), National Paralympic Committees (NPC) and ministries.



Sport program and sport disciplines were discussed, confirming inclusion of para disciplines in Swimming and Table Tennis at the European Universities Games 2016. In particular also the venues, services and protocol were screened for access details and requirements, defining the areas of improvement and the deadlines for implementation.

The partners are preparing the details and will communicate it to the EUSA and EPC members. As Croatia is hosting the European Para Youth Games in Varazdin in July this year, the partners also agreed to visit the event and meet again after the Supervision Commission Visit in the fall.



The meeting was attended on behalf of EUSA by Mr Aitor Canibe Sanchez, Executive Committee Member and Chair of the Equal Opportunities Commission and Mr Patrik Perosa, Sports Manager. On behalf of the EUG 2016 the representatives were Mr Zrinko Custonja (President), Mr Haris Pavletic (Vice-President), Ms Jelena Matesic (Communication and Public Relation Department), Mr Davor Habjak (NUSA Secretary General), Mrs Danira Bilic (Sport Committee President), other sport committee members, transport managers, project construction experts, Mr Ratko Kovacic (Vice-President of the European Paralympic Committee and President of Croatian Paralympic Committee), Mrs Jasna Lulic Drenjak (Technical Delegate para swimming), Mr Dragan Rakic (Technical Delegate para table tennis), Mrs Valentina Novak Zizic and Mrs Mirela Sikoronja (expert consultant for students with disabilities University of Zagreb). Participants were also able to visit the sports museum after the official meeting.
