EUG 2028 Technical Visit in Manisa
EUSA Technical Commission visited Manisa, Türkiye, between March 6-8, 2024, for the second of the three Inspection visits at the Candidate Cities of EUSA European Universities Games 2028.
The Commission, composed of EUSA Sports Manager Mr Miha Zvan and EUSA Sports Officer Ms Eszter Gulyas, was welcomed by members of Turkish University Sports Federation (TUSF) - respectively the President, Mr. Mehmet Gunay, the responsible of internal relations, Ms. Asli Ozdendir, the responsible of marketing, Mr. Can Duraslan, Provincial Director of Youth and Sports in Manisa, Mr. Yunus Ozturk, the Dean of MCBU Faculty of Sport Sciences, Mr. Murat Tas, and the Associate Professor of the MCBU Faculty of Sports Science, Mr. Kadir Yildiz.
The inspection started in the morning of March 7th, when EUSA Technical Commission members, visited the Manisa Celal Bayar University facilities, including the sport venues located in the campus, the accreditation centre, the dormitories, and the catering venue.
The inspection was followed by the visit to the office of the Rector of Manisa Celal Bayar University - Prof. Dr. Rana Kibar. In the afternoon, the visit continued with the inspection of the sports facilities located outside the university campus and the accommodation places reserved for VIP guests, EUSA members and Referees.
Manisa Celal Bayar University has an important tradition in sport, in fact its Physical Education and Sports College is one of the oldest in Turkey that began offering sports science and physical education programs. Moreover, the university is one of the largest in the Aegean Region, with more than 55,000 students, of which 652 are international, and 1,156 faculty members.
EUSA Technical Commission visit will be soon followed by EUSA Evaluation Commission visit: both Commissions will then prepare the report for the 3 candidate cities to be presented at the next EUSA Executive Committee Meeting in Aveiro, Portugal where the assignation on the next European Universities Games organiser will be taken in April 2024.
