EUG 2026 Supervision Commission Visit

Salerno, Italy, hosted a two-day Supervision Commission Meeting on 3-4 February 2025, where the local organizers provided updates on their progress in organizing the next edition of the European Universities Games in 2026.
The delegation representing the European University Sports Association (EUSA) consisted of President Adam Roczek, Secretary General Matjaz Pecovnik, Treasurer Francis Cirianni, Sport Events Director Liam Smith, Education & Operations Director Sara Rozman, and Sports Manager Miha Zvan.
The delegation of the EUG2026 Organising Committee (OC) was led by University of Salerno (UNISA) Rector Vincenzo Loia, CUS Salerno President Lorenzo Lentini, and CUS Salerno General Manager Michele Di Ruocco.
The first day began with an introductory presentation from EUSA, which set the stage for the following two days of meetings and site visits. Next, the EUG2026 Organizing Committee provided a general update on their recent activities and shared further insights on the progress of preparations for the Games. The group then discussed the proposed sports program for EUG2026 and potential sports venues.
In the afternoon, further presentations and discussions took place, focusing on specific functional areas such as accommodation, catering, transportation, volunteers, and many more.
The second day's morning was filled with site visits of the student dormitories, university facilities, and various sports venues planned to be used during EUG2026 Salerno.
To conclude the productive two-day visit, the EUG2026 Supervision Commission met with the key OC staff to provide general feedback on the past 2 days, discuss upcoming activities, and agreeing on specific action points.
EUG2026 Supervision Commission thanked the local organisers and the supporting partners of EUG2026 Salerno for their efforts in preparing for the visit, as well as their preparations for the Games next summer.
Salerno, Italy will host the 8th edition of the European Universities Games, in the summer of 2026, with more than 3500 athletes expected over a 15-day period.
