EUG 2024: action-packed finals of 3x3 basketball
Today marked the exhilarating finals for 3x3 Basketball, with fierce battles on the court in both men’s and women’s categories.
The morning kicked off with an intense showdowns. The excitement peaked in the afternoon with the semifinals and the bronze, silver, and gold medal games, each match more gripping than the last.
Adding to the spectacle, the dunk contest and 3-pointer contest were highlights, drawing even more fans to the edge of their seats.
In the bronze medal game Szechenyi Istan University (HUN) and Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University (UKR) played against each other and at end the Szechenyi Istvan University (HUN) earned the bronze medal in women division.
The second place game was held between Riga Stradins University (LAT) and University of Valencia (ESP) and the silver medal was earned by the University of Valencia (ESP).
The winner team who successfully won the gold medal at the EUG 2024 3x3 Basketball Championship in women’s category is Riga Stradins University (LAT).
The team of Riga Stradins Unversity qualified for the 2024 FISU University World Cup 3×3 Basketball in China.
In men’s category, the bronze medal was awarded to Vytautas Magnus University (LTU) and the final game was extremely nerve- racking between the University of Ljubljana (SLO) and the Polytechnic University of Bucharest ( ROU).
The final game result ended with the sore 19:18 for Polytechnic University of Bucharest (ROU). The silver medalist team became the University of Ljubljana (SLO) after the intense battle, while the gold went in the hands of Polytechnic University of Bucharest (ROU).
The team of Polytechnic University of Bucharest (ROU) qualified for the 2024 FISU University World Cup 3×3 Basketball in China.
Several prestigious extra awards were presented to recognize outstanding performances and sportsmanship. The MVP of the tournament honored the most valuable players whose skills and leadership shone brightest on the court.
Fair Play Award in women’s category: Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University (UKR), while in the men's competition was University of Alicante (ESP).
MVP in women’s category: Queralt Ribera Badia - University of Vic (ESP).
The Best Scorer Award was won by Daria Kononuchenko - Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University (UKR).
Shootout Contest Winner in women’s category: Manca Vrecer - University of Ljubljana (SLO).
Team of the Tournament in women’s category: Queralt Ribera Badia - University of Vic (ESP), Daria Kononuchenko Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University (UKR) and Anita Mikelsone Riga Stradins University (LAT).
Best Scorer award in the men's competition went in the hands of Georgi Gerganov from University of Shumen (BUL) and the winner of the shootout contest in the men's category is Jaka Oberlajt from University of Ljubljana (SLO).
The winner of the Dunk Contest is Iliia Kabatsiura from Sumy State University (UKR).
The MVP of the men's competition was from Vytautas Magnus Unviersity (LTU) - Augustinas Mikstas.
Team of the Tournament in women’s category: Augustinas Mikstas from Vytautas Magnus Unviersity (LTU), Georgi Gerganov from University of Shumen (BUL) and Marius Mihai Ciotlaus from Polytechnic University of Bucharest (ROM).

Meanwhile, the competition is for some starting today and for some already slowly reaching its finish. Fast paced matches were all over the venues in Miskolc and Debrecen for: football, futsal and volleyball.
One of the most exciting football games took place in Debrecen between the University Fan Noli (BUL) and the University of Basel (SUI).
The sixth day of Futsal and Volleyball competitions built the last part of the tables of these competitions.
In women’s category todays focus was on the 2 semifinals that took place. One between the Nantes University (FRA) and Tampere University (FIN), and the other between Rey Juan Carlos University (ESP) and National Pedagogical Dragomanov University (UKR). Tomorrow we will follow the finals and we are thrilled to watch great goals and spikes!
The match for the bronze medal will be between Rey Juan Carlos University (ESP) and Tampere University (FIN), while in the gold medal match the teams facing eachother will be National Pedagogical Dragomanov University (UKR) and Nantes University (FRA).
In volleyball, we had the chance to witness the two women's semi-finals, where Ovidius University (ROU) and the University of Bologna (ITA) faced off, who had been dominating the competition since the beginning, with zero defeats.
The University of Bologna now has the opportunity to defend their title from EUG 2022 in Lodz and the European Universities Championship 2023, against the University of Zagreb, who won their semi-final against the University of Ljubljana 3-1. The liberò of Bologna, Sophie Andrea Blasi, shared with us their determination to win for the fourth consecutive time: “We are very, very, very happy. It’s the fourth time in a row we have reached the final. We won the previous three, and we hope to win this year as well.”
In the men's competition, the final will feature Brno University of Technology (Men) against University of Rostok (GER) , with each team winning their semi-finals.
We are very excited to watch the finals tomorrow and see whether there will be new champions or if the reigning titleholders will win again.
